18 Miles Per Hour

18 MilesPerHour is about riding through the world instead of just passing it by.
UNORTHODOX TRAINING METHOD: TAKE A WEEK OFF AND EAT PIZZA.
I feel I’m breaking new ground in the world of training.
See, it’s mere weeks until 24 Hours In The Old Pueblo. I could be eating right, getting plenty of rest and taking good care of my body in preparation for the coming, grueling physical test. But that’s so expected.
Been done.
I decided to zag.
The way I see it, the only reason for focused and disciplined training is to make the race easier. And isn’t the whole point of this thing to be a challenge? See where I’m goin’?
So I spent all last week in NYC. Eating like a New Yorker. Drinking like one, too. And if the city never sleeps, then why should I?
Truth be told, I was on my feet all day, every day, supplementing it all with yoga and stretching. So I felt like there was some exercise going on there. Every night my muscles were achier than if I had ridden. So what if I rewarded myself by sampling every pizza I could get my hands on while being on a whisky drip.
It’s all part of the challenge. The Brian Miller approach to racing. And if it doesn’t work, hell, it’s all New York’s fault.
